This includes personal information such as your name, which is required when signing up with email and password, or retrieved from Apple or Google if you use OAuth sign-in. We also collect a user ID for authentication and troubleshooting, and an optional profile picture if you choose to upload one. Your email is required for email/password sign-ups, while OAuth sign-ups retrieve the email from the respective provider. With Apple OAuth, if you choose to share your email, we receive your actual address; if you choose “Hide My Email,” Apple provides a private alias that forwards messages to your real address. We store this email (whether real or alias) for authentication and communication purposes. For authentication data, email/password credentials are securely stored, while OAuth users authenticate directly through Apple or Google, and we do not store their passwords. Additionally, we collect usage data such as app activity to track user interactions, and device information, which may include device identifiers collected by Google Ads for ad personalization.

You have control over your data and preferences within the app. If you prefer not to share usage data, you can disable* analytics tracking in the app settings at any time. For ad personalization, you can manage your preferences through Google Ads settings. If you wish to delete your account, you can either do so directly within the app or request deletion by contacting us at support@clubchapter.com. *If you opt out of data collection (analytics), we will still track anonymous usage data to help improve the app. In this case, no personally identifiable information (e.g., user ID, name, email) will be associated with the data.
6. Data Retention & Security
We store your data securely using Firebase. When you delete your account, we will delete all of your personal data from our systems, except for public reviews. This includes your name, email, and profile picture. Public reviews will remain available to other users, but they will be anonymized to remove any personal information associated with the user.
7. Children’s Safety
Chapter is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from individuals in this age group. In the event that we become aware that we have received personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take immediate steps to delete the information and close any associated account. Children under the age of 13 are strictly prohibited from submitting any personal information to or through Chapter.
